Social Media Struggles: Is Instagram Still the Best App for Artists?

Social Media.jpg

EPISODE 147

Instagram: the O.G. photo-sharing social media platform. It was once so beloved by artists, photographers, and day-to-day photo sharers. But now, is it still considered the best social media platform for artists? We are going to dive deep into whether or not that is still the case, or if artists (and other creatives) should be turning towards other platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, or maybe even the app that’s once again in the spotlight—Vero.

Figuring out which place to share your creations and content with the world can be challenging. So in today’s episode, we are going to compare a handful of the options that are available.

A few things to consider while listening as well as when you are making platform decisions:

  • Determining which platform to invest time in, depends on a number of factors.

  • What is your purpose for being on the app?

  • Where is your community or audience?

  • Which apps do you enjoy being on and are willing to invest time in?

  • Which app plays to your strengths?

And here are a few key points you will hear in today’s discussion:

  • What exactly is going on with Instagram? Many changes are being made throughout the platform as a whole, mostly in an attempt to stay relevant in current times against potential competitors such as TikTok. But why? Considering TikTok is solely a video sharing community, why is Instagram becoming less of a photo sharing site like it used to be?

  • How about Twitter? Can Twitter still be more relevant than ever, even with its age and communication format? Some might say yes, others might say no—why?

  • Maybe Pinterest could be an option? It’s definitely a less common platform that people look towards, but it has amazing potential for many reasons!

  • The ever famous YouTube-you might not think of YouTube as a platform that artists would get good use out of, but there are many opportunities that can stem from using it as one of your platforms!

  • Last but not least, what is Vero??? Is it reliable at all, or are the rumors true?

To find out our thoughts and opinions on all of the above, check out the podcast episode here! Hope you enjoy it!!
