Lesley Grainger - Finding Freedom in Your Art

Lesley Grainger - The Laura Horn Art Podcast

EPISODE 109

My guest today is abstract artist Lesley Grainger. Lesley was born in Yorkshire, England and now resides in Orange County, California. Early in her career, she worked as a graphic designer and an illustrator. In recent years, her main focus and passion have been abstract painting.

In our conversation, Lesley chats about how her abstract style has evolved and why it is important to her to paint freely and make the art that she truly wants to make.

We also talk about what it was like to create her first online course, ‘Language of Abstract’.

Lesley turned to abstract painting because she wanted to find more freedom in her work.

The main thing is colour and finding freedom in my work. Really expressing myself. It’s a very subconscious intuitive style. That’s how I like to paint and I’m always pushing it more and more.
— Lesley Grainger
